Deskala stands for ‘The Art of Design’.

The name is derived from ‘Des’ and ‘Kala’. ‘Des’ is from Design, as that is the core of our business; ‘kala’ is a Hindi word meaning ‘art’.

Design is all-pervasive in our hyper-mediated world today. The past decade has effectively changed the rules of the game; the ‘build it and they will come‘ maxim has now given way to a ‘user-centered design process‘ where the wants and needs of the consumers drive the creation of new products and services. Moreover, there is a growing desire to understand specific patterns of use and, design ‘thoughtful’ products and services to complement specific lifestyles, environments and behaviors that users exhibit.

How does one then begin to observe user behavior, mind insights, analyze this data meaningfully to conceptualize new products and refine existing services? How does one begin to make sense of the (unique) socio-cultural context of prospective culture-specific consumers? This is where we, at Deskala, come in. We employ sophisticated Design Research strategies to provide our clients with valuable insights into their existing and prospective consumers/user groups. As a team, we are committed to continually improving the user experience while advocating a wider application of design in a variety of businesses.

Our firm is powered by a multi-disciplinary group of passionate, innovative and young design professionals who bring with them a wealth of real-world experience and world-class training from institutions such as IITs, Indiana University, Domus, etc. Our team members include researchers, designers and new media professionals whose interests lie at the intersection of society, technology and culture.
